Almost 70% of women and girls in the Pacific Islands region experience rape or other sexual violence, one the highest percentages in the world.
Recognising the urgent need to raise public awareness and to promote positive action in response to this emerging crisis in Tonga, UN Women and the European Union supported a national campaign to Stop the Violence (Ta'ofi e Fakamamahi).
Ta'ofi e Fakamamahi consisted of four television and radio spots, posters, flyers, and a resource kit to assist local organisations working with women and girls experiencing domestic violence.
